According to a senior Ukrainian official, Ukraine's security service has destroyed a rail connection inside Russia's territory. The explosions took place on trains passing through a tunnel and a bridge in the far east of Russia. Reports suggest that Russia has initiated an investigation into the incidents, treating them as acts of terrorism. The extent of the damage is yet to be confirmed. Ukrainian sources claim that the purpose of these attacks was to disable a crucial infrastructure occasionally utilized by the Russian military. The first explosion occurred in the Severomuysky tunnel, where the train was halted due to smoke in a fuel tank. This tunnel is the longest in Russia and is located in Buryatia, north of Mongolia. The Ukrainian official stated that the freight train actually exploded inside the tunnel, while the Russians inadvertently diverted to an alternative bridge route, falling into the trap set by Ukraine. It is unclear if the second explosion, reported by Russian telegram channel Baza, in the same vicinity has been verified. Although the incidents took place on Wednesday and Thursday, there have been no reported casualties. Fuel tanks and rail lines have suffered damages as a result of the explosions. The Russian government has not officially commented on these events.
