The Israeli military has released video footage claiming to show hostages being taken into Gaza's largest hospital after the Hamas attacks on 7 October. According to a military spokesman, one of the hostages, a soldier named Cpl Noa Marciano, was killed there. Israel has been searching the hospital, which it alleges served as a Hamas command centre, while Hamas denies these claims. Rear Adm Daniel Hagari, chief spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces, said that according to their findings, Marciano was taken to a safe house near the hospital and was later killed by another Hamas terrorist. Hamas had previously claimed that she was killed in an Israeli air strike. The IDF also released CCTV footage from the day of the attacks, showing hostages being brought into the hospital. The footage also showed armed men in the hospital corridors. The IDF has been under pressure to prove its claims of a Hamas command centre at the hospital. The US has also stated that it has intelligence suggesting that hospitals in Gaza, including al-Shifa, have been used by Hamas as command centres. Israel is determined to present evidence to build its case and has released a video simulation of what it believes an underground Hamas base at al-Shifa might look like. Israel's allies have supported its campaign against Hamas but expressed concern about civilian casualties. The death toll in Gaza has reached 12,300, according to the Hamas-run health ministry. Families of the hostages are pressuring the Israeli government to do more to secure their release. Protests have taken place outside the prime minister's residence, but Benjamin Netanyahu remains committed to his goals of destroying Hamas, returning the hostages, and eliminating the threat from Gaza.
