Farmers in Europe are staging protests against EU measures and rising prices. The protests have taken place in Poland, Hungary, Spain, Belgium, and other countries. In Poland, around 1,400 tractors participated in a protest in Poznan, and roads were blocked nationwide. Spanish farmers have cut off traffic in several regions for four consecutive days, hoping to enter major cities. The grievances of the farmers vary, with some complaining about the EU's failure to prevent cheap imports from Ukraine that undercut local produce. In Hungary, farmers joined the protests for the first time, protesting against cheap Ukrainian imports and showing solidarity with farmers across Europe. Farmers in different countries also share concerns about high fertiliser prices and the impact of cheap Ukrainian imports on their markets. Prime Minister Viktor Orban of Hungary has expressed his support for the farmers and accused Brussels of prioritising Ukrainian farmers over European farmers. Farmers in Belgium and Italy have also participated in protests, demanding support and fair treatment. Protests have caused road disruptions and traffic congestion in several cities. The farmers are calling for changes to agricultural policies and regulations in order to protect their livelihoods.
