US President Joe Biden has stated that despite the ongoing attacks by the Houthi rebels in Yemen, the US will continue to take military action against them. This comes after a US ship was targeted by a Houthi drone, leading to the US carrying out a fifth round of strikes on Yemen. White House spokesman John Kirby informed reporters that the US forces successfully destroyed a number of Houthi missiles that were about to be launched towards the Red Sea. These attacks took place on both Wednesday and Thursday. The Houthis have been engaged in a series of attacks on merchant vessels passing through the Red Sea since November, in response to Israel's military operation in Gaza. In January, the US, UK, Australia, Bahrain, the Netherlands, and Canada launched airstrikes against Houthi targets after the rebels refused to comply with an ultimatum to halt attacks in the region. Despite these military actions, President Biden acknowledged that the Houthis have not ceased their attacks, and the US will continue to respond.
