Yulia Navalnaya, the widow of Alexei Navalny, has made a public commitment to continue his fight for a "free Russia." In a video message shared on Monday, Navalnaya expressed her grief and anger while urging viewers to join her in seeking justice for her husband's death. She accused the authorities of hiding Navalny's body and stated that she would carry on his work to fight against corruption, injustice, and for fair elections and freedom of speech in Russia. Navalnaya also hinted at having information regarding the reason behind Putin's alleged involvement in her husband's death. Her address preceded a meeting with EU foreign ministers in Brussels. Navalny's body has not yet been released to his family, and attempts to locate it have been unsuccessful. Western leaders, including EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell and US President Joe Biden, have held President Putin responsible for Navalny's death and are considering imposing new sanctions on Russia. Russian prison authorities claim Navalny died from "sudden death syndrome," and hundreds of people have been detained across Russia for attending memorials in his honor.
